MEDIA EDUCATION CENTRE  (MEC)

Belgrade (Serbia)

The mission of the Media Education Centre is to promote role of the Media, Peace and Information Literacy in the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, new media pedagogy, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace. Members of the Media Education Centre are encouraged to give back to the community in a way that is creative, meaningful and impactful. We share our time, resources, and collective imagination to advance causes that support and enrich our community.

In everything that the MEC does, from its trainers and educators to project coordinators and board of directors, the MEC encourages the choices that students, teachers and people generally make about new models of Media Pedagogy, Media, Information and Peace Literacy. To make this happen, we’re working with thought leaders all over the world, all the time, in dozens of countries across six continents. The projects we undertake connect our members in the Strategic Partnership Network with the outstanding goal of keeping them at the top of effective implementation of Digital, Media and Information Technology to teaching, learning, presenting, sharing and research.

The Media Education Centre is the headquarters for the World Summit on Media for Youth, Media Laboratory, Danube Peace Boat-Danube Waves and Danube and Balkans PLUS International Traveling Festival. MEC is also in the Presidency of the Unity in Diversity-World Civil Society, Champion Member and HQ of the “Unity in Diversity Balkans-Danube Region-South East Europe”.
